Something unusual happens and we immediately want to understand it. Add a spiritual slant to that and it can move quickly from "that was interesting" to "the Universe wants me to ___________(fill in the blank)."
When someone is newly awakened, and maybe you remember this phase in your own journey, everything becomes a sign. Every coincidence is guidance. Every dream is a directive. Every repeated number is a message requiring decoding.
Decades ago, when I first started offering energy work, one of my first clients was on the table and I saw a white cat and a rose. It seemed nonsensical to me at the time, and I kept seeing these images with a stronger and stronger feeling that I need to share what I was seeing. I wanted it to make sense. I wanted some certainty but I had none, so I resisted sharing until the urge was so strong I finally told my client what I was seeing.
She burst into tears.
That morning before our session she had asked a deceased loved one for a sign that they were OK. She specifically asked for a rose. The white cat had belonged to her deceased loved one and she had adopted it. The white cat was confirmation that the rose had clearly come from her loved one.
That message had nothing to do with me. My only job was to pass it along without editing it into something that made sense to me first.
There is a difference between receiving something and interpreting it. Receiving is a neutral act. You are a channel and something comes through. Interpreting is where your own mind, your assumptions, your desire for it to mean something specific, can distort what was received. With practice certain symbols will develop specific meanings in your psychic “vocabulary”.
Sometimes your intuitive impression is meant to be shared exactly as it was received, without meaning attached. Sometimes it is meant to be interpreted, other times is not meant to be shared at all.
Learning to recognize the difference is one of the most important skills you can develop intuitively. It takes practice, humility, and a willingness to look a little strange sometimes by sharing something that makes no sense to you.
