Aloha Beautiful Soul,
There is nothing wrong with desire. Desire is often the inspiration that shows us what we want to experience, create, receive, or become. It gives us direction, and without it we would have very little motivation to move, create and grow.
Once desire has shown us the destination, we begin to feel the discomfort in the gap between where we are and where we want to be. We keep looking for evidence that it is coming, feeling the absence of it, and if we’re not careful, we begin to mentally rehearse the not having, which makes the state of not having stronger.
David Hawkins’ Map of Consciousness ranks emotional states on a scale from 1 to 1,000. He places Courage at 200 as the point where consciousness begins to move out of force, struggle and dependency into greater personal power. Desire sits much lower, at 125, where the energy is still organized around craving, wanting and looking outside ourselves for fulfillment. In manifestation, desire can keep us identified with the absence of what we want: I want this because I do not have it yet.
What do we do when we are clear about what we want?
The next step is alignment. Your thoughts, emotions, expectations, choices and identity must be consistent with the reality you want to experience. If you want abundance, you stop feeding the inner conversation that affirms lack. If you want love, you begin relating to yourself and your life with the knowing that love belongs here. If you want a different experience of life, stop empowering the parts of your life that you no longer wish to bring forward.
This is the shift from wanting to having.
Having has a very different quality than wanting. Having has confidence, having is empowered, having is living in harmony with the new version of yourself.
Desire gave you the destination. Choosing to “live in the end” as Neville Goddard would say, is the work you do to get out of your own way and allow that new expression of yourself to come forward.
When you notice yourself craving, chasing or asking when will it happen? Ask this instead:
How would I think, feel, and act if I trusted it was already mine?
Let desire point the way. Then align yourself with your desired outcome, and act from the trust, knowing, and confidence that it is done.
